Documentary Description

First aired on May 5, 2010. Weird or What? is a series on the Discovery Channel hosted by William Shatner. There is an alternate version of this series that is narrated by Peter MacNeill and does not feature William Shatner. Each episode contains four separate stories of the bizarre and unexplained. Each story ends with the host asking "is it Weird, or What?". The show also airs on History Television in Canada, SBS One in Australia, and TV3 (New Zealand) in New Zealand.

In the episode Cocaine Mummies:

    * When scientists run tests on mummies they find traces of cocaine in their hair. How did Ancient Egyptian pharaohs get the coca plant from South America to Egypt?
    * The San Francisco sea lions from Pier 39 mysteriously vanish only to turn up in Oregon about a week later.
    * The mysterious Voynich Manuscript, written in a strange language (or code) in the 15th century defies translation. What mysteries do its pages hold?
    * A Mexican tribe that can run hundreds of miles in a single day! How do they do it?
