Antitrust Law

Antitrust law is the American designation of Competition law. Dating from Roman times, it includes regulations against price setting up and the English control of trade doctrine. Modern antitrust law developed from the Sherman Act and Clayton Act, the basis for the U.S. anti-cartel and anti-monopoly acts from of the turn of the 20th century. It is used to regulate the power of businesses, restraining their economic weight and avoiding market price distortions affecting consumer welfare.
