Lecture Description

In this video elsson, Swimming Instructor Peter Elizondo teaches the proper feet positioning at a 45 degree angle.

Video Transcript: PETER ELIZONDO: "In this section, I'm going to be explaining to you how to actually face your feet when you're doing the frog kick. So, now that you have your feet close to your butt; imagine my arms, you know, being your legs and my chest being your butt; what you want to do is, and imagine my hands being your feet, you want to point them out forty five degrees. So, don't ever have your feet straight and don't ever have them really twisted out because you're going to injure yourself. You want them at about forty five degrees and then you'll end up doing a full half circle and then closing. So, let me show you on your feet as well. So, good example; remember, on the first step, your heel has to be touching your butt. Now, with your foot, your going to be pointing it out forty five degrees, if you can see that. So, you're not straight like this, cause you're going to injure yourself, and you're not trying to twist down. You're just straight at a forty-five degree angle, and then you'll end up doing a half circle in closing. Let me show you on the other leg as well. So, again for the breast stroke, you'll bring the heel to the butt, and then point your leg, your feet, out forty five degrees. So, both feet will be pointed out forty five degrees, and then you'll make a half circle and close and in; that's pretty much what you'll do for the second step as far as a breast stroke. Okay, in this section, it's a continuation of Step two, for the frog kick, for the breast stroke. And you want to make sure that your feet, the bottom of your heel, touches your butt or close to it. So, just like this, you'll bring both feet up, touching the butt, and then you'll go out forty five degree half circle. So, again bring your feet straight up, and then you're going to go into half circle, close them, just like that for the breast stroke kick."
