Abstract Algebra: We consider the group Aut(G) of automorphisms of G, the isomorphisms from G to itself. We show that the inner automorphisms of G, induced by conjugation, form a normal subgroup Inn(G) of Aut(G), and that Inn(G) is isomorphic to G/Z(G). Examples include Z/3, Z/4, Z, Z/2 x Z/2, and S3.
