Lecture Description

In this video lesson, Ballet Instructor, Eileen O'Brien, teaches how to do a passe developpe for beginning ballet dancers.

Video Transcript: "Hi, I'm Eileen O'Brien for Expert Village in Suncoast Dance Academy in this clip we are demonstrating passe developpe for beginner ballet. Demonstrating for me is Joleen Stevens and before she executes this step we are going to point out that she is standing with her heels together and toes turned out, hips are nice and equal here. So one hip is not higher than the other. As she executes the passe she takes the leg up slowly being careful to keep the hip square and she is stretching the leg out in a developpe position which means to develop. She just finished to the front, we are going to the side, the knees straightens and the leg comes down. Beautiful and passe to the back, slowly with passe developpe into a beautiful la ere position and back to our side position passe developpe and she always finishes in her first position. Arms down that was beautiful Joleen and that finishes our passe developpe."
