Documentary Description
One thousand years ago, in the jungles of northern India, Hindu Warrior Kings built a vast and mysterious city, Khajuraho. Eighty-five stunning temples were built, twenty of which remain today. Famed above all for the delicate sensuality and eroticism of their sculptures, these frank representations of sexuality are considered an expression of India's world renowned Kama Sutra.
This installment in the LOST WORLDS series takes a look into the infamous book of the Kama Sutra. Known in present day for its detailed descriptions and illustrations of various sexual positions, the erotic book was originally created by an ancient Indian, with spiritual undertones in mind. Erotic statues cover the ruins of temples that still soar above the jungle. These may hold the key to India's world-renowned Kama Sutra: an ancient text on the art of making love. In hunting the rest of this lost city, and exploring its mountain fort, we trace the glorious engineering feats of a fearsome kingdom. And we uncover the legacy of the Kama Sutra in the palaces of the kings who took over this exotic kingdom.
