Documentary Description
Explores the lives of two Inner Mongolian families. Sereng is a horse-head fiddle player and father of one of the most fancied wrestlers at the Nadam. Erdeni says what he thinks of the domination of his people by the Chinese. The Xilihot Nadam is a summer event where 100,000 Mongols and Chinese gather to watch the traditional Mongol sports of archery, horse racing and wrestling. There is a resurgence in the cult of Ganghiz Khan as a national figure. But the Chinese, though now allowing the Mongols to speak their own language, fail to recognise their rights and consider them lucky to benefit from Chinese wisdom and ideas.
