This episode of the popular series Raging Planet investigates the phenomena of lightning bolts. Every day there are almost 2,000 thunderstorms across the planet, each generating an amount of energy equivalent to a large power station's output. This video captures and investigates lightning strikes and shows how a beautiful event can turn deadly. It also investigates the curious fact that three out of four of those struck by lightning manage to survive their trauma.
