Documentary Description
The Great Pyramid at Giza is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World still standing and no one knows how it was built. For centuries archaeologists have been trying to figure out how ancient Egyptians moved huge stones to the top of the Pyramid. Unlocking the Great Pyramid is the first new film featured in National Geographic's Expedition Week. In this video, Egyptologist Bob Brier explores the ideas of Jean-Pierre Houdin, one of what must be legions of people who have tried to figure out how in the world the Great Pyramid of Khufu was built, more than 4500 years ago. Houdin's is a fascinating idea--and Brier leads us deftly through the theory, scrambling through the chambers inside the tomb and the walls outside it.
