Lecture Description

In Lesson 10 of my Professor Jason Jump Start Brazilian Portuguese series I talk more about the importance of learning verbs as vocabulary – focusing on their meanings and uses more than on their forms. In this lesson, I cover 20 additional common verbs used to talk about everyday activities. Forms are given for the present, simple past and periphrastic (going to) future, but the emphasis is on each verb’s meanings and uses. I also provide some set phrases and idiomatic expressions for each. This is a lengthy lesson, so here is a list of the verbs in order, in case you’re looking for something in particular!
1. Ser
2. Estar
3. Haver
4. Ter
5. Fazer
6. Ir
7. Querer
8. Poder
9. Dar
10. Deixar
11. Dizer
12. Ficar
13. Gostar
14. Pôr
15. Precisar

17. Vir
18. Saber
19. Conhecer
20. Conseguir
