Lecture Description
In this video lesson, Makeup Artist Matt Cail teaches how to look like Heath Ledger's Joker with dirty, white base makeup.
Video Transcripts: MATT CAIL: "First step, let's apply our white makeup. It's our base layer on our volunteer's face here. So apply it to your sponge, and then we're just going to start dolloping this on. Now it's going to be human nature to want to apply this in a nice, even layer, but, this Joker has blotchy, crazy, chaotic makeup. So, I recommend that you think very, very little on this makeup because basically, you just want to keep your hand in constant motion. That's all you want. In and around the eyes, the nose, the lip. We're going to be covering up some of this other makeup with other makeup later on, so that's totally fine, this white base layer. And what's more, we're going to have some areas of flesh which are going to be exposed. This Joker can't be bothered to put on a nice, even coat. It's going to be blotchy. Some of the skin underneath is going to show through. That's part of the look. And that's nice for you because it also makes it easier for you to apply the makeup. So we're going to continue applying this makeup over the nose, around the lips, on to the other side of the face. As soon as the makeup starts getting very, very thin, then it's time to go back and grab some more. Otherwise, just keep going. Don't think, because thinking, you're going to want to make nice, neat lines, and a nice even base, and that's exactly opposite to the look we're going for with our Joker."
