Lecture Description
In this lesson, we're going to learn about WordPress menus and site navigation. Without good navigation, users won't be able to find all the excellent content on your website.
We can't stress enough how important quality navigation is. Plan out your navigation and create a cohesive structure.
When building it, you don't have to have the content ready. You can create the navigation to plan it out and have a mental sitemap.
Under Appearance then Menus is where you create your menus. On the left is the available content. You can drag it to the menu on the right to create a menu item to that content.
On the right, clicking on it will get you the available options for that specific menu item.
You can also drag the menu items to order them.
Dragging a menu item further to the right will make it a sub menu item of the one above it. Not all themes display sub menu items with drop downs, but many do.
Each menu can be put in one or more menu positions in the theme.
Under Screen Options (top right), you can get more available content and menu item options.
There is a Custom Menu widget that you can use to put a menu in a widget area.
