Video: Reduction of Copper Oxide with Zinc

After heating the mixture for some time, the mixture suddenly lights up and glows. Amongst the reaction products is red-golden Copper.
Copper Oxide is reduced to elementary Copper by Zinc. The Zinc is oxidized and becomes Zinc Oxide.
Reduction: Cu2+ +2e- -> Cu +
Oxidization: Zn -> Zn2+ +2e-
CuO + Zn -> ZnO + Cu
