Louis XI (3 July 1423 - 30 August 1483), known as The Prudent (Le Prudent) or the Spider King (Le Rois Aragne). This designation came from his political schemes, weaving a web of intrigues plot and stratagems. He reigned over France from 1461 to 1483. Son of Charles VII of France and Mary of Anjou, grandson of Charles VI and Isabeau of Bavaria, he was member of the House of Valois and one of the most successful kings in the unification of France.
